Sometimes gray tones capture the vibrancy of life more accurately than color.
Wild horses. A pristine barrier island (not many of those left). Misty of Chincoteague. Salty air.
Superlatives abound on this magical island. I have spent years documenting this place resulting in my first book, Natural Wonders of Assateague Island.

The central Appalachians of Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania are a stunning, ancient wonder. Mountain species of the southern highlands meet species of the boreal north. There’s a hiking culture (the Appalachian trail), rare ecosystems (shale barrens), and incredible fauna. Why they do not get the same respect as the mountain west is a shame, and I hope I can help change the conversation.
These mountains are the subject of my next book.

Get your boots, your tent, and a kayak. These mountains await you.

As a wilderness photographer having skills in the art of bushcraft and primitive survival are incredibly important. I have trained with the best and the best is Virginia survival expert and New York Times Bestselling author, Tim MacWelch.
I was the photographer for Outdoor Life Magazine’s The Ultimate Bushcraft Survival Manual, authored by Mr. MacWelch.
