The Dolly Sods Wilderness Area, a part of the Monongahela National Forest, sits high above the Allegheny Plateau. The climate and plant life is more akin to tundra and Southern Canada than in other areas of the Mid to South Appalachians. Its breathtaking views are a backpackers paradise.
